Chicago Centered: 2022 Midterms—What Happened and What Lies Ahead

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 9, 2022 | 5:45–8 PM (CDT)
With a political landscape featuring President Joe Biden’s sagging approval ratings; former President Donald Trump’s struggle to retain control of the Republican Party; the reversal of Roe v. Wade; and record inflation, the 2022 U.S. midterm elections are set to challenge historical assumptions and set the stage for the upcoming presidential race.

Join Professor Anthony Fowler, a leading scholar studying elections and voter turnout; BallotReady co-founder Aviva Rosman, AB’10, MPP’16; former US Representative Luis Gutierrez; and Isabelle Dienstag, MPP'17, as they unpack what the 2022 elections say about the current state of American politics and what it means for the future of the country. Afterwards, join alumni including Deputy Budget Director for the City of Chicago Carrianne Carallis, CLA'18, Director of ePay and Illinois Funds Division at the Office of the Illinois State Treasurer Thomas Gary, AM'21, and President of Herrera Strategy Andrew Herrera, AM'20, for an intimate conversation to discuss the importance of local issues and civic engagement following midterm elections.
